The National University of Bahrain is the largest educational institution in Arab Kingdom


In the Arab Peninsula, Bahrain has the oldest national teaching organization. It was founded in 1932. At the time, the authorities of Bahrain imagine the grandness of education. The education scheme of Bahrain has based gradually since then. Today, the National University of Bahrain is the biggest public university in the Kingdom of Bahrain. At present, the university is called UoB. It is an undergrad institution. However, in particular occasion, the university provides postgraduate curriculum. In reality, UoB is the single national educational origination in the kingdom of Bahrain that provides Bachelor degrees and a couple of postgraduate degrees.
The university was constituted in 1986. Its sources go back to the end of 1960 when the higher educational institutes for boys and girls was established. Initially, it was an institute and afterward it became the University College. It allowed education to the student conformity with Amiri Decree no. 11 for 1978. The Gulf College was launch in 1968. Subsequently, by the same decree, no. 2 of 1981 called it as The Gulf polytechnic College. These two colleges stay self-governing. They both provide Bachelor degrees in several faculties of fine art, Department of Commerce, scientific discipline, Education Department and engineering science. At 1986, the Amir of Bahrain made out the decree no. 12 for 1968 and fused them to constitute the National university of Bahrain. Now, the university consists of nine colleges. They are- Arts College, College of Education, Business Administration College, College of Information Technology, College of Law, Science College, College of Applied Studies, Engineering College, and the BSC (Bahrain Teachers College).

Cardinal objectives of the university are to accomplishing litigates concerned with higher studies to develop and maintain gained knowledge. The university nurtures endowments and offers scholarship for them. Its slogan is to furnish the state with technocrats and masters in different fields. The king of Bahrain is the ultimate chairperson of the National University of Bahrain. There are four administrative councils of the university. They are- The board of regents, the university council, College councils and Departmental council. These councils execute their responsibilities and manage their obligations in conformity with the rules, ordinances and laws of the university. The academic class is parted in to autumn and spring semesters. Each semester holds the duration of 16 weeks.  The autumn semester begins at last week of September and ends in January first week. Duration of the spring semester is February to June of a year. The university also admits students in summer semester occasionally that starts at June and lasts for August.
