A developed educational system is
present in the Arabian Peninsula from very beginning. Bahrain has the eldest
public education system among all the Arabian countries. It pretends that the
educational system for public was established in 1932 in Bahrain. From that
time, this country has developed their educational facilities by moderating the
subject by including new knowledge and information. The National University of Bahrain
is the largest university in the Kingdom of Bahrain. The university has a long
story of its development. In 1960, an institution for boys study was
established. Later on, another girl’s educational institute was formed. The
Amiri of Bahrain merged these two institutes and formed a college. At 1968,
another college, named the Gulf College was established. Finally, these two
colleges were combined to form The Golf polytechnic institute of Bahrain. The
two colleges were independent and offered bachelor degrees in various topics.
Now the university is well developed and recognized by the world.
The National university of Bahrain
has seven faculties. One of the faculties is the information technology
college. It was established in 2003 and contributing to the achievement of the
university’s goal of excellence in knowledge creation, learning and engaging
the students to Information Technology and Computing disciplines. The college
runs following programs- Computer science and engineering, Information
technology and computer programming. All these programs are accredited by ABET.
Moreover, the college offers MS degree in computer science. All the students
and college stuffs are working together to achieve the Vision 2030 and
providing to the kingdom’s participation in the computer knowledge. It is aimed
to build a strong infrastructure and capacity in information technology. We are
living in a modern society and we cannot imagine our life without technology.
So, the development in technology can lead a nation at a higher position. The
National University of Bahrain is also trying to improve the knowledge of
students in technology, especially in Information technology and computer
science.
The university is trying to
prepare the new generation so that they can cope the rapid change in
Information technology fields and hold the leadership of the country. It has
facilitated extended research in college field to increase the practical
knowledge of the students in this field and to drag out their hidden
creativity. The university has three semesters, fall spring and summer
semesters. Students are welcome at any semester to start their study in
computer science and information technology. It is the leading faculty of the National University of Bahrain.
